Joshua Williams is a student success and program development professional with a background in student engagement, leadership development, training and development, program coordination, and digital communication.
Throughout his time at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), Joshua developed a strong passion for helping students navigate the transition into college, build meaningful connections, and access the resources and support needed to succeed. His experience with the Center for Access & Academic Success includes serving as a Hawk Mentor and later advancing to Graduate Lead for the Summer Bridge program. Across three Summer Bridge cohorts, Joshua supported more than 200 students through academic preparation, college transition, student development, and community-building initiatives. As Graduate Lead, he coordinated workshops, study sessions, and engagement activities while supervising peer mentors and monitoring student progress and adjustment.
In addition to student development, Joshua brings extensive experience in program execution, event coordination, recruitment, and stakeholder engagement. Through the Hawk Ambassador Program, he represented UMES during campus tours, admissions events, open houses, and recruitment initiatives, helping prospective students and families understand the university experience and available opportunities.
His professional background also includes several years of experience in digital media and live production. Through UMES Athletics, Hawk Media, and Admissions, Joshua has worked in video production, photography, live-streaming, social media, camera operations, and event production. This combination of people-centered leadership and technical communication skills allows him to approach programs and projects with both creativity and operational focus.
Recognized for academic excellence and leadership, Joshua received Departmental Distinction throughout his undergraduate career, Departmental Honors, the Most Outstanding Student award for the Digital Media Studies major, and the annual Richard A. Henson Honors Program Scholarship.
Joshua is an active UMES Alumni and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Studies, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.97 GPA and as a member of the Richard A. Henson Honors Program.
